My heartfelt condolences to the McTaggart family on his passing, I've known Bill for a long time, through Rotary Club connections, both as a fellow Financial Advisor and good friend in Rotary. We went to many conferences in a wide range of places in a number of different countries, sharing fellowship and learning experiences and some great meals and hospitality.
Bill and I worked on some joint cases in my early years as a financial advisor and I learnt a lot from traveling with him around Alberta, he was always happy to share his approach to helping clients and brainstorm with me on the right solutions for their financial needs.
May you finally rest in peace my friend and you will be missed!

Q: What will you never forget about William?
A: We met Bill in 2023 when we purchased the cottage next door to him. His kindness and companionship were greatly appreciated during those lonely renovation months when it was quiet at the lake. He always offered a lending hand when needed. He became a quick friend and friendship missed.

My heartfelt condolences go out to your family during this difficult time. I hold fond memories of the years I spent working with Bill on group benefits plans. He had an incredible gift of humor and positivity, always brightening any room he entered. Bill generously gave of his time to help others, making a lasting impact on everyone he worked with. His stories and jokes were often the highlight of meetings and lunches we were fortunate to share. Even during tense negotiations, he always managed to lighten the mood.
May you find comfort in the cherished memories of his kindness and the love and support of those around you. Sending positive thoughts and prayers to you all.

Dear Cathy and Family:
It is with profound sadness that we read of Bill’s passing. My thoughts and prayers are with you. I hope the many wonderful memories of Bill’s life and the love and support of family and friends provide some comfort in these difficult days.
Bill was truly one of the “good guys”! He was a great Rotarian, a strong supporter of RDC during my time there, and a person who was well respected professionally and personally in the community. Through his work as an investment advisor he introduced some of his clients to the college as part of their gifting plans, and provided great advice to us about engaging with potential donors.
There are so many stories of Bill’s kindness and caring for people who were privileged to know him and count him as a friend, me included. I know many will be shared in the days ahead.
I am sorry that I will not be at the service this week as we live on Vancouver Island, however I will be there in spirit.
Rest well my friend.
Sincerely, Ron Woodward (former RDC president)

Mel and I were so sad to hear of Bill's passing. We only met Bill once but when we did he was kind enough to take us on a great boat ride around the lake and then hosted us on his deck. We will always remember that afternoon. Our condolences to the family.

We enjoyed having Bill as a neighbor and friend at the Lake. Bill was alway kind and helpful to us and our family. He enjoyed sharing his time and possessions, bringing out a waterslide for our grandchildren when they were toddlers, helping them clean and cook the first fish that they caught from his dock and in recent years letting them use his seadoos. His kindness and sense of humour will be missed.
Condolences to the family.

I’m saddened by the passing of Bill. He was a very committed Rotarian and pillar of the community through his business and service to the Rotary Club of Red Deer downtown. One unique memory sticks out in my mind regarding his contribution to the Clubs assent of Mount Davidson in honor of a great contribution of Davidson to the International expansion of Rotary. The mountain had never been Summited. Bill had brought his utility trailer to assist the club but it had to be left behind on the “goat trail” to the trail head for some reason. On returning to get it, there was no sign of it. During the following days I think it was Parks Canada that called Bill to ask why his trailer was sitting at the bottom of a cliff! They also announced he better retrieve it or face the cost of helicoptering it out!
In Bills creativity he planned an elaborate retrieval plan but when arriving at the location he realized it had vanished. It was about 20 yrs ago so the recollection of events might be off a bit but I do believe it had been stolen, thus he didn’t have to face the retrieval cost and was able to collect the insurance money!!
Rest in Peace Bill!!!

I worked in the same office as Bill for a short while and then moved in next door to his mom when I moved to Stettler. He was always so friendly and told us we could come out to the lake anytime. He always visited when he came to see his mom and has such nice daughters! I'm sorry for your loss girls. I'm glad he was in his happy place when he passed.
