Obituary of Kristie Louise Sherman
Kristie Louise Sherman
April 5, 1979 ~ June 21, 2024
Kristie was born April 5, 1979, in Ponoka to Marcia and Howard Sherman. She was a very happy playful little girl as long as she was with her Mom and Dad. And at home. Some things never changed. She loved books and loved to be read to. After high school she spent time in Korea, which she loved and always wanted to return to, then to Red Deer, and settled in Eckville. She loved the prairies and would never want to call anywhere else home. Kristie was a lifelong learner, the type to take university courses for fun, and send endless links to YouTube videos she thought were interesting.
She was bold and beautiful and almost always the smartest person in the room. She stood up for what was right even if it made waves, fiercely believed in the greater good, and was gentle when dispensing advice, even when the truth hurt.
She loved cooking, pretty teacups, a puffy sleeve, her family, a good bargain, dinosaurs, cheese, thunderstorms, and cake. She was messy and creative, quick witted and so funny, wildly independent and disorganized. She loved to write and created beautiful and interesting fantasy worlds with her mastery of the English language.
She hated t-shirts, the dentist, heights, crowds, escalators, and didn’t suffer fools lightly.
She believed that dogs are better than people, money is better spent than saved, human rights are for all humans …. and she was right.
She leaves behind a million books,
Jason Momoa whom she hopes will recover from the loss,
her mom Marcia Sherman;
sisters Camile (Shawn) MacLeod and Sandie (Louis) Bruneau;
brother James (Rosemarie) Sherman;
beloved nieces and nephews,
many aunts, uncles and cousins,
and her two dogs, Rigel and Blink, that she loved more than anything or anyone on earth.
Kristie is predeceased by her dad Howard Sherman in 2008.
A private Celebration of Kristie
was held at Royal Canadian Legion Hall, Eckville, Alberta,
Saturday June 30, 2024.
The family wishes to express their sincere thanks to the doctors and nursing staff on Unit 32 at Red Deer Regional Hospital, for their care and compassion during her short stay.
