I worked with Kristie for her entire FET career. I feel like the thing about coworkers is we sometimes share things with them that we don’t with our closest connections in the outside world. You have a different bond with coworkers! We didn’t talk every day but when we did, what a laugh. I would sit across from her on every trip to Red Deer and we would chat and laugh and share a glance over monitors when something displeased her, which was often. I would get the most random texts from her, often with a joke or something wildly inappropriate that I appreciated so much. Multiple times I laughed with her until I cried, usually at someone else’s expense. I haven’t been back there yet, I’m dreading it, it just won’t be the same. I can actually hear her sarcasm when I think about what she would have to say about that. Sometimes you don’t realize the impact that someone has had on your life until you are reflecting back on it and I think that sums up my relationship with Kristie, I didn’t realize how much she was there until she wasn’t. She was a strong and fierce supporter of other women and a truly amazing human. I will miss her dearly and I am very grateful to have called her a friend.
