Obituary of Colette Marie Fetaz
Colette Marie Fetaz (Cordel)
April 1, 1932 - February 17, 2024
Colette was born in the Galahad Hospital, the youngest child of Marius and Valentine Cordel. She grew up in the Apremont District, north of Halkirk on the family farm.
She attended Apremont School from grades 1 to 9, then received her grades 10 and 11 at Theresetta School, while staying at the convent in Castor.
From a young age, Colette had a love for music and playing the piano. This enjoyment of music continued for her entire life. She enjoyed playing piano for the residents at the long term care facility up until just recently.
On February 11, 1953, she married Armand Fetaz. Colette and Armand raised 9 children on the Fetaz family farm that was homesteaded in 1907. Throughout these very busy years, Colette willingly gave of her valuable time to the church by playing the organ at the old Notre Dame de Savoie church. After Notre Dame church closed, Colette continued to play the organ at the Catholic Church in Galahad and Castor. In her retired years, Colette began to quilt. Each of her adult children and many of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were given her hand quilted masterpieces, lovingly sewn to perfection. In the later years, she knitted baby blankets for some of her great-grandchildren.
Armand and Colette moved to a house they purchased in Castor in 2003. Colette moved to the Castor Manor 2 in 2019, the Paintearth Lodge for a short time in 2021, and the long term care facility in 2022.
