Obituary of Sheila Kathleen Holloway

Please share a memory of Sheila to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Sheila Kathleen Holloway was born in Castor March 21, 1960 and passed away peacefully on January 20, 2023 after a courageous battle against cancer.  Her family is comforted knowing that she entered Heaven and met her Saviour, Jesus Christ. Sheila was the seventh child of eight born to Dave and Nancy, and the first girl.  Sheila was raised on her family’s farm in the Fleet/Castor area and grew up to live a life of adventure and hard work as a Flight Services Specialist that had her residing for many years in remote locations in northern Alberta and in the NWT.

The family recognizes Sheila for her strong and fiercely independent spirit that allowed her to obtain her degree in Home Economics and then pursue training for her 40 year career in Flight Services which had her move across the country to Cornwall, Ontario. Sheila was a daring young woman that followed her career path wherever it took her as well as many solo trips around the world including many countries through Europe and a trip to Barbados.

Sheila leaves behind a loving legacy of breathtakingly beautiful handmade quilts and afghans which she generously gifted to nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews and friends and charities. Her love for sewing is abundantly evident in her cherished collection of fabrics and patterns and yarn and all things crafty.  She loved her fur babies with all of her heart and devoted herself to walking Baillie, even when it was cold out (she hated the cold).  Her biggest loves were Piper and Snowball who passed within a year after the loss of her dear mom in 2011.

Sheila was predeceased by her parents. She is survived by her siblings Lyn (Pat), Raymond, Don (Cheryl), Phil (Connie), Les (Karen), Nelson (Christine), and Elizabeth, and 17 nieces and nephews and 51 great-nieces and great-nephews and 2 great-great nieces.

A family graveside service will be held at the Markham Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers please follow in Sheila’s footsteps of generosity and donate to the charity of your choice.
