Obituary of Derek Charles Malloy

Please share a memory of Derek to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

It is with profound sadness that the family of Derek Charles Malloy of Halkirk, Alberta announces his passing on December 20, 2020 after a long and hard fought battle against multiple health issues.

Derek was born in Verdun, Quebec, March 5, 1957. He is survived by his mother Nelda Malloy of Montreal who will miss him terribly. His father, Ambrose Malloy predeceased him.

He was devoted to his wife of thirty three years, Heidi Oliver Malloy who has supported and cared for him so faithfully, throughout his illness.

He will be profoundly missed by his much adored children and their spouses, Jordan (Dylan Usselman), Jade (William Curry) and Liam (Brittany Woelk- Malloy).  He was immensely proud of his grandchildren Ryker and Brynlee Usselman and Peyton and Aidan Curry.  He will be deeply missed by his sister Nancy Malloy (David Duguid), his nephew Ambrose Duguid and many cousins and family.

Derek was a carpenter extraordinaire and a talented artist. He could build anything, and he loved working with his hands.  He loved his family, his friends, his home and his animals. He loved music, a legacy that he passed to his three children.

The family especially wishes to acknowledge with gratitude Dr. Douglas Simmonds of Red Deer hospital for his dedication and care.

Due to the current situation, a memorial service and burial date will be decided at a later date.

As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions to Canadian Blood Services would be appreciated by the family. Please visit give.blood.ca or call 1 888 2 DONATE OR 1-613-739-2339."
