Fr. Albert, I just learned of your passing, today. I'm deeply saddened. I haven't seen you for so long but you crossed my mind, often. I'll always remember your bright smile, your enthusiasm for youth and profound love for God. I was a teen, in Sherwood Park, when you served at OLPH. You always remembered me...greeted me with a smile and a hug. Your visits to the high school were great highlights, I'll cherish forever. I wish I could have said goodbye and thank you for your leadership. It helped me develop a personal relationship with Jesus. Above all, I'll remember our visits....having lunch with you, seeing a movie now and then. Us kids thought you were 'cool'....lol. May we meet again, in the presence of our Lord and Saviour, in heaven. Love and light.

We were deeply saddened at Mass yesterday when Fr. Mike informed us of Fr. Albert's passing. Fr. Albert was our parish priest at St. Agnes for many years and I am so grateful to him as I have no doubt that he is the reason that my two children have their catholic faith today. My daughter discovered him at St. Agnes one Sunday upon sleeping in and came home just elated at how much she enjoyed mass and this wonderful priest. She said it was the first time she really understood why she was there. She convinced her brother to attend the next Sunday. Father Albert spotted them and never forgot their names after. When they finally convinced me (their mother) to also attend St. Agnes we attended regularly to a church that the attendance grew larger every Sunday. There was standing room only. Father Albert was not only a wonderful priest but one of the kindest, compassionate, nicest human beings we have ever met. We think of him often and are saddened that we never heard of his passing as we would have surely attended his funeral in order to show and express our sincere sympathy and condolences to his family and friends. Rest in Peace dear Father Albert and God be with you until we meet again.

My condolences to all the Family. My Uncle told my Mother who then told me of Father Albert's passing. I have fond memories of him as our Priest at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Sherwood Park, AB. back in the 80's. I remember helping out there with weeding in the garden and having lunch with Father Albert & I think his Mother may have been there at times too along with the staff and a friend of mine. He was such a caring person and I remember he had such a great memory for names! That was amazing! I bet he knows everyone's name in Heaven already by heart! My prayers are with all of you at this time. May God Bless and be with all of you during your time of loss.

We are so sad to learn of the passing of Father Albert. He was a kind and caring priest and our family thought the world of him! His photographic memory was amazing and if he asked you your name he would remember it from that moment on. He presided at the marriage of our son and daughter-in-law at Our Lady of Perpetual Help and made their special day even more special. It is so heartwarming to read all the wonderful comments on this page and especially the ones of people saying Father Albert was instrumental in a return to their faith.
Heaven has indeed welcomed a special angel and our condolences to all the family on
your loss.

Right person, right place, right time … God’s Providence. Fr. Albert was a man of prayer who lived his faith. He rejoiced with me when he helped me return to the church after ten years away, he baptized our four children and celebrated the First Communions of our oldest two (at OLPH in Sherwood Park), and he joined us at our oldest’s wedding. He was a good friend through many years and he was an incredible support during our darkest hours.
Our condolences to his family. He brought so many people to Jesus and now he is with Jesus. Praise the Lord! Alleluia!

Such fond memories of Father Albert, so sorry to hear about his passing. From the days of OLPH in Sherwood Park, he was the very first to make an impression on my young mind in Church, he was so kind and compassionate and I always was so happy to see him. He almost glowed with joy. I recall the impact of his sermons on my parents and how much they enjoyed them, and how he really tried to keep everyone's attention focused and interested, even as a child I did my best to pay attention. Shortly after we arrived in Sherwood Park, I remember him arriving to our family home to bless it, and welcome us. He had this ability to make you feel like you had known him for years...our whole family adored him. What a wonderful wonderful man.

I loved going to church @ OLPH in Sherwood Park & seeing Father Albert every Sunday. I remember he’d come for dinner at our house or when we went to his home for dinner, it was fun. He’s the only priest I ever looked up to and who made church wonderful for me. I’m so sorry to hear he’s passed and all that comes to mind besides love is me yelling,”Hi Father Alberta!!” In front of the whole Parrish & he’d laugh and say, “Hi Kathy!!” So R.I.P. & when the day comes, I’ll say that to you again in heaven!

I offer my sympathy & condolence to Fr. Albert's family. Each of us has a shadow side of life that we might regret as well a side as a child of God. Fr. Albert helped me to see this side of me as my true self, loved by God. As a result he loved me into the Church and a deeper relationship with the Trinity. Which I am truly thankful. Fr. Albert had a photographic memory and when talking to you focused on you as though no one else existed. I thank you Fr. Albert for helping me to experience God and not only having a knowledge of God. Rest in the peace of our Lord my brother.

Father Albert was an important person to us both as a parish priest and then as a young couple, performing our marriage ceremony in August 1970. He is a person that I (Linda) consider one of the most influential persons in my life. Now he's resting in peace and happily reminiscing with my own Dad Emil Jacobs. Sending comforting thoughts and prayers to his family.

God looked around his garden- And found an empty place,
He then looked down upon the earth- And saw Albert's tired face.
He put his arms around him -And lifted him to rest.
God’s garden must be beautiful -He always takes the best.
He knew that he was suffering -He knew he was in pain.
He knew that he would never – Get well on earth again.
He saw the road was getting rough – And the hills were hard to climb.
So he closed his weary eyelids – And whispered, ‘Peace be thine’.
It broke many hearts to lose him – But he didn’t go alone,
For part of us went with him – The day God called him home.
My sincere condolences to you and your family. Father Albert was a beautiful, gentle man and a good friend and mentor to many. He will be greatly missed.
