Iola Addie It is time to celebrate the life of Iola Marian Addie (Palmer). Born on June 8, 1930 in Melfort, Saskatchewan Iola passed away peacefully February 24, 2015 while in the Coronation Hospital, with family at her side. She had a long full life, blessed with laughter and many fond family memories. She was always excited to travel and her energy was focused on friends and family. She ensured that her family was involved in a variety of activities. In Saskatoon on September 20, 1950 she married Donald Addie, and together they would raise 5 children, modeling to them the importance of hard work, education, laughter and resilience. Creating wonderful family memories was paramount to her. They spent many winters in Arizona, however, her favorite piece of paradise was at their cabin at Jackfish Lake. Gathering many friends over the years, Iola loved to sew, knit, bake and spent countless hours doing things for others. She was an elite bridge player and a serious opponent in her crib games. Many nights you would find extra places set at their dining room table for a home cooked meal, prepared by Iola. She was a charter member of the Order of the Eastern Star at Hardisty, AB, Past Queen of the Saskatchewan Daughters of the Nile and a Supreme Officer in the World-Wide Daughters of the Nile, whose mission is to support the Shriners Hospitals for Children. Spending her twilight years in Castor, AB she continued to be the consummate ‘FAN’ of her families’ passions. Left to cherish her memory are: her husband of 64 years, Donald Addie, children Marian (Tom) Hembroff, Myron (Janette) Addie, Donna-Marie (Lawrence) Worobetz, Marla (Garner) Kolybaba, Marilyn (Rob) Nichols, 15 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and her beloved Boston Terrier, Angus. A celebration of Iola’s life will be held August 8th, 2015 at Jackfish Lake with interment to follow at Meota Cemetery. Memorial Donations in Iola’s honor, may be made to the donor’s choice. “Death may indeed be final but the love we share while living is eternal.” Don-Williams Jr. Parkview Funeral Chapels of Castor, AB were entrusted with the care and funeral arrangements.
