Dear Marilyn and family, I have so many wonderful memories of your Mom: her making us hot chocolate after we had stuffed a bunch of envelopes for her mailings; her getting us to strip down to our undies at the back door so we wouldn't drag our wet and muddy clothes inside; her whistling around the house (she whistled so beautifully!); the green dress she wore on her cleaning / "I mean business" days; her driving us around in her Honda; her getting ready for evenings out, all decked out in her mink coat and jewels; her giving me my first pair of "diamond earrings"; the matching gifts she would bring back for the two of us from her travels (we had so many matching t-shirts kids wondered if we were sisters!); her sewing our clown costumes and my bridesmaid's dress for your wedding; going for peanut buster parfaits on those hot summer evenings; her taking us to Castle Theatre productions; the note she left for me when I stayed at your house the night before my wedding; and all the things I learned from her (that I didn't know I was learning at the time because I was too young). Your Mom was a terrific Mom and I couldn't have asked for a kinder and more inclusive set of second parents to have across the street from me when I was growing up.
