We have shared close to 2/ 1/2 miles of fenceline with the Baird Family. We are still good neighbours (:. Whenever my phone or TJ's rang and we saw who was calling, our first thought was our cows were out. I will miss seeing him on the road almost every day. My wife and I will always be there for his Family.

TJ, Our Dear Friend
A lanky young man, blonde mullet, and bowed legs,
Totem and Hank were the pet names we gave.
A star spangled bandana was his signature style,
His ever present charm and a lopsided smile.
He once tamed a crow, with his soft low drawl,
He had a way with animals both large and small.
He learned to swim in duck ponds and always had a 'dip',
He was quick on his feet and never slipped.
His penmanship and achievements in school set him apart,
He was our unassuming cowboy and just really smart.
He made us all laugh, with antics and wild pranks,
Often with Darren and Travis, they were a trio of hi-jinks.
Hailing from Halkirk, he was legend and mentor on the rodeo circuit,
To many a good friend, we were part of his orbit.
In a ring with a bull, his courage and athleticism abounded,
His spins and leaps, left every crowd astounded.
His proudest moments by far, were as a father to his boys,
Our job now is to speak his name for them, and share his stories.
Humble and big hearted, kind and good-natured,
Living in a world without him will be uncharted.
Our Dear friend TJ, like the paint on your face, fly high to the stars,
We will always be grateful for the time that you were ours.
.....Corrine Cordel-Tebbe

Never had a chance to meet TJ in person but as rodeo fan got to watch him perform/fight. If we had a Mount Rushmore of bullfighting in Canada his would be one of those 4 faces. The respect he had of those he protected was evident by the number big rodeo’s & finals that he worked, you’re chosen by your bull riders because you are who they feel safe with.
Deepest sympathy to the Baird family.

Bob & Maki and family, Brody, Brandyn, & Jett. My sincere condolences on the loss of TJ. He was a very well respected and loved fella by all who knew him. His bullfighting skills were only outdone by his personality. He will be missed by all who had the pleasure of meeting and knowing him. Always hold TJ close with the many stories and memories he left behind. A great man gone far too soon but an everlasting legacy... My sympathies, Darren Lewis (Formerly of Killam, AB.)

I wish I had seen TJ more in the last few years, but unfortunately I didn’t. But I had a lot of fun rodeoing with Tj when I was younger he was a good friend to me and my brother. He didn’t care that I Wasn’t one of the big stars we just hung out and had fun.

Some of my earliest childhood memories are of TJ staying in our bus when he would be fighting bulls at rodeos where my dad was clowning. Watching him and my dad put their make up on in the bus when it was cold and rainy and that smell of baby oil and grease paint. Even then I thought TJ walked on water. The photo I included was me and TJ Box Springs Rodeo 1997. Before the perf I asked him not to turn my steer because I was only riding so my dad would let me fight bulls when I grew up. Well he did turn it and I won the rodeo. TJ was my hero from day one and till this day. By the time I was fighting bulls getting to fight with him was a bigger deal to me than working the NFR. From attending his bullfighting schools to fighting bulls with him, those are still some of my life’s greatest highlights.
