Obituary of Shirley Howarth

Shirley Katherine Howarth (nee: Riddell) passed away on Tuesday, June 11, 2024 at the age of 79 years at Agape Hospice in Calgary.

Shirley was born January 16, 1945 in Stettler, Alberta and was raised in Big Valley until she left for nursing training in Calgary. After Shirley received her RNA designation, she had a rewarding 42 years career at the Calgary Children’s Hospital where she made many lifelong friends.

Shirley married Wayne Howarth and together the couple settled in Calgary and raised their two sons, Darren and Tyler.  Tyler resides in Calgary and Darren lives in Langley, B.C. with his wife Natasha, Shirley’s beloved daughter-in-law, and their two sons Keanu (and fiancé Regina) and Skylor. 

Along with her immediate family, Shirley leaves her sister Marlene Cuming as well as many nieces and nephews and great nieces, nephews and cousins to mourn her passing.

Throughout her life Shirley enjoyed family and friends most of all, but had a huge passion for cake decorating – 100’s of Wedding Cakes later and various other specialty handcrafted home décor items is one of her legacy’s.

Always a proper lady dressed in high style who could narrate a story with a Diamond Wit is how she will be remembered by most who knew her.

A Celebration of Life will be held for Shirley at the Stettler Legion, Dieppe Room on September 21, 2024 at 1:00PM. 5010 50 Avenue, Stettler, Alberta.
