Obituary of Paulette Louise Heer
Paulette Louise Heer
1954 ~ 2024
In loving memory of Paulette Heer (nee Berg), who passed away peacefully on May 31, 2024 at the age of 70 years. Paulette was born on May 16, 1954, to the loving parents Paul and Iona Berg of Gadsby, Alberta. She spent her formative years in Gadsby and attended Gadsby School before furthering her education at Wm. E. Hay High School in Stettler.
Growing up on the family farm north of Gadsby, Paulette developed a deep connection to the land and cherished her rural upbringing. It was during this time that she found love and companionship with Percy Heer, her best friend's brother. They exchanged vows on November 4, 1972, and embarked on a journey of love and togetherness that spanned over five decades. Together, they settled on the Berg family farm and nurtured a beautiful family.
Paulette's professional journey took her through various roles, but she found particular joy in her time at Stettler Co-op, where she worked in different departments, most notably the cafeteria. Her thirst for knowledge led her to pursue a diploma in accounting from Red Deer College, and she applied her skills at Pauline Christian Accounting and Bar Harbor Camp.
Beyond her professional pursuits, Paulette was deeply committed to her community. She dedicated countless hours to volunteer work, including her involvement with Omega Circle and Gadsby and District Hobby Club. Paulette's door was always open, and she welcomed friends, neighbors, and strangers alike with warmth and hospitality. A game of cards or a friendly chat over coffee was never far away, and she particularly enjoyed cribbage and canasta.
Paulette was a devoted mother to her two children, Christy (Curtis) Wideman and John (Jewel) Heer, and a cherished grandmother to seven grandchildren: Matthew (Monica), Clayton, Josie, Brooke, Samantha, Hannah, and Bailey. She also leaves behind her sister-in-law, Dale Van Straten; as well as many other relatives and many dear friends.
Paulette was predeceased by parents, Paul and Iona, and her brothers-in-law, Gary Heer and Eldon Van Straten.
