I had the privilege of developing a friendship with Shaun later in life. Shaun was a complex individual, but those who took the time to develop a relationship with him were well rewarded. Shaun and his beloved golden retriever Romeo would come over and we would sit in the backyard barbecuing steaks, ribs, sausages or chicken thighs. I have a wood pellet Traeger grill and Shaun was thoroughly impressed with the flavour and texture of all meats and vegetables prepared on the Traeger. We would experiment with different wood pellets such as oak, cherry, maple, apple, hickory or mesquite. One day we even smoked a pizza on the grill resulting in a truly delectable wood flavoured treat. Shaun always had the time and patience to listen to whatever personal challenges I faced in life. He carefully listened and provided his fatherly suggestions and guidance. Shaun was a rare individual and a true friend. Shaun’s legacy is one of family, generosity, adventure, dreams and love.
