Reg has known Jim for decades as a fellow model aviator. He shared stories of going to Ida Grove (a big deal in model aviation in the 80s). And proud to be curator or a couple of Jim’s collection. I got to know Jim when he visited the flying site on funfly weekends. It was so easy to be drawn to Jim, easy conversation but never small talk. I lost my dad 22 years ago and I found some of those Dad comforts in time with Jim. That gentle voice, the chuckle, and he listened. Over the years in the chaos of busy weekends, when I saw him sitting on the bleachers or leaning on the fence I couldn’t help but zip over beside him and scooch in for a chat and to enjoy the activity with him. It wasn’t many visits before landing beside him on a bench started with a hug. We’d talk and watch until I was called away and it was a better day for having spent time with him. Whether it was farming talk, or John Deere, airplanes, and always always, references to nieces nephews and godchildren, a little politics from time to time. Never doubted how much he loved or who. Gayle, he left a mark wherever he went. But you know that. We will hold you in our hearts as you remember him.

I am crushed, devastated and saddened beyond imagine to lose the best friend I ever had. Although 700 miles apart we shared countless memories. Camping, fishing, pranks, lies, camaraderie, There was never a dull nor a negative moment when with Jim. There are so many stories and memories to tell I wouldn’t know where to start. It’s taken three weeks to get dry eyed enough to write this.
Heaven will have its hands full with this one. Rest in peace my friend.

I always admired Jim for his love of life and mostly for how much he loved Gayle. His strength and sense of humor throughout his journey was above and beyond what could be expected of a cancer patient. He was a true gentleman. He gave me lots of hints and tips when I was in the military. Gayle wrote me ever week during my 10 week basic training. I looked forward to those letters.
He was always up to listen and share stories of the military.
Jim was a kind, and gentle man who will be greatly missed by Gayle, his family , friends and who all who had the privilege to have met him. See you on the other side.

My Family, my parents before me and my boys, had a janitorial contract at The Nevis Gas Plant. Jim always had time to visit, share a laugh, tease the boys, and offer support. He will be remembered with fondness. My deepest condolences. Tammy Chick

This may seem a bit strange but i enjoyed the story telling sharing of his journey through his cancer. He reported regularly of his Drs/treatment visit and told us exactly how it was going and always ended with a rather bizarre joke that left us groaning or smiling depending on the joke and on facebook for the whole lot of us to see! I think this tells what very loving sharing funny and generous this man was and will bea lasting memory for me forever. Thank you Jim and Gayle

Our condolences to Jim's family of his passing. I have many great memories of Jim out at the Nevis Gas Plant when I was the Sales Representative with Acklands Ltd in Stettler in the 70's and 80's. Jim also helped me with rebuilding a fuel pump for a 1911 Rumely OilPull tractor that I was restoring in the late 80's. Always enjoyed our conversations over the years during coffee time every Tuesday at the plant. Jim also took the time to send an email of congratulations in 2020 when I retired from Acklands Grainger which was very humbleing to receive and cherished after being gone from Stettler for so many years. He was a great person and will be missed by many. May the many memories in your heart and of all those special moments and times carry you through the days ahead.
Ted & Kim Sherring, Medicine Hat, AB.
