Wayne and Karen,Elaine and were so sorry to hear of Irene's passing.She was always so helpful in the county office when I needed help with something,and cheery smile and HELLO to greet you with...great human being...one of the GOOD GALS!!haha We had some good visits when we met on the street the times we were back in Castor.We have great memories of our years in that GEM of a town on Highway 12! take care all... We were neighbor's with Irene and Mac for several years and as I was the youngest of the Mabbotts, they were like second parents to me. I recall one time when me and my older sister and brother were home alone and a bad thunderstorms came up and the three of us went running down the road very scared. Irene greeted us and the door and brought us in and comforted us. Later in life, she always laughed about that when I saw her. She was a wonderful caring person who was always there to provide any help we needed. Glen Mabbott

We had the pleasure of visiting Auntie Irene a few times over the years. Three of those times were a complete surprise to her. The first surprise visit was in 1982. Auntie Irene had just got settled in her new home. Mike and I with our two girls Melanie and Michelle showed up at her front door. Michelle was 4 months old. When she answered the door we just handed her the baby. We were of course welcomed with open arms as we always were when we visited. We have wonderful memories of Auntie Irene’s visits when she came east as well. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you Love Judy and Mike

When I was visiting for Auntie Irene’s 90th birthday with my Mum, Helen, and Auntie Alice I was driving us all between different events. Like Auntie Irene, I have a heavy right foot. She leaned over to me from the front passenger seat so the two in the back wouldn’t hear and said with a smile ‘I’m a 120k kinda gal too.’ She was that and so much more.

Wayne, Diane and family We are so sorry for your loss. Your Mom was such a character and always had a smile to share. She was a great friend to our Mom and could always be counted on to get the women together for coffee and a visit.
