She was born on June 26th, 1938 in Big Valley, Alberta to Florence and Joe Authenac. She was the fifth of eight children raised on the farm. She attended school at Vimy Hill and had many great friends.
She met Bud Burnstad in Big Valley and they fell in love. Yvonne worked at the Royal Bank in Big Valley until she and Bud moved to Fort Smith, Northwest Territories where they got married in 1960. They then moved to Yellowknife where they welcomed Bill, and then Marilee back in Fort Smith, and then moved home to Big Valley, where they welcomed Brice, and Tim.
Bud and Yvonne farmed, visited friends, played cards, and had many big adventures together. After Bud passed away Yvonne continued to farm with her sons. She loved life in the Big Valley community and visiting with her neighbors and friends. In her later years she found companionship with Les Knapp, and moved to Stettler until his passing in 2017. Her home was always in the Valley and she lived there until the winter of 2022.
Yvonne was a devoted mother and an incredible grandma. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing, baking, playing cards and bingo, and her Tuesday nights with her Twisted Sisters. She will be deeply missed and her legacy will live on through all of her loved ones.
