Verna Mae Allison

It was with great sadness that we announce the passing of Verna Mae Allison at home on June 20th 2023 at the age of 92, following a short illness.

Verna has lovingly survived by the following family: her son Brian (Lynne) and daughter Gwen (Bill); grandchildren Tyler (Janelle), Jonelle (Kelsey), and Katelynn (Tyler); great grandchildren Braelyn, Lennon, Taisley, Ezra, Willow-Mae and Carson; sister Nellie (Vernon); sisters-in-law Louise and June; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins including her walking partner Loretta (Lawrie).

Verna was pre-deceased by her loving husband Lowell, brothers Wilbert (Betty), Dale (Shirley), Aubrey (Charlotte) and Edward (Harvalee), and brothers-in-law Clark and Allon.

Verna lived her entire life in the Great Bend area and was very active in the community, participating in the Great Bend Church of Christ (life-long member) and more recently the Delburne Gospel Church, the Great Bend Dorcas Sewing Circle, the Great Bend Cemetary Association, the Great Bend Sewing 4-H Club, the Delburne Pottery Club (a founding member), the Wild Rose Camera Club and others.

Verna took great pleasure and pride in her garden and pottery in which she was actively engaged up until her recent illness.  She obtained great enjoyment from spending time with her family, including hiking the riverbanks, walking the family farm, travelling, and sharing family meals and celebrations while enjoying the antics of her great grand children.

A Memorial Service will be held at the Delburne Community Hall Monday June 26th, 2023 at 2:00 PM with a luncheon to follow.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Verna may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
