Bernard (Bernie) Arthur Desender 1939 - 2023

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Bernard Arthur Desender on May 9, 2023 at the age of 83 years. Our dear Son, Brother, Husband, Father, Uncle, and Friend.

Bernie was predeceased by his parents Marshel ‘Poppy’ and Elvira; wives Barbara and Carol and grandson Curtis. He is survived by his sister Carolle ‘Sis’; his former wife, Elaine; children; grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Back in the day, Bernie worked on farms, the railroad, was owner of a little grocery store with his late wife, Barbara, and drove trucks to name a few. He loved camping, fishing, sledding, sitting on the deck with a yard full of birds, reading western novels, watching classic movies and TV shows, and of course good times with family and friends. He was fun to be around and never judged. He barely complained during his final days while battling multiple cancers. His struggle is now over. He is at peace and finally getting the sleep that eluded him for so long. We will cherish his memory, until we meet again.

In respect of his wishes, a memorial service will not be held. A private interment will be held later where his cremated remains will be laid to rest near Garrick, Saskatchewan.

Bernie’s family would like to thank Dr. Sun and the wonderful folks at Elnora Home Care, Stettler Hospice Society and volunteers, Points West Living Stettler Inc, Stettler Home Care, Stettler EMS, and Stettler Hospital Emerg and Acute Care for their kindness, compassion and patience while caring for Bernie. If you so wish, donations may be made in his name to The Stettler Hospice Society https://www.stettlerhospice.org/

~ He went peacefully to the end of his earthly journey.
