In Loving Memory

Brian Trent Butterfield Jr.

August 2, 1954 ~ November 25, 2022

Brian passed away into the arms of Jesus at home on November 24, 2022, at 11:30 PM, with family at his side after a year long struggle with a lung disease.  Brian had a very strong Christian faith.

Brian grew up at Ponoka, Alberta working in the family feedlot.  In 1973 he married his high school sweetheart Ione Littau who he was married to for 49 years.

Brian and Ione moved to the Ewing Lake area in the spring of 1974 where Bar 3 Ranches began.  He quickly had his own feedlot to look after, with help along the way from a faithful hand Russell McCrindle for thirty six years.

Brian worked hard but made time to rodeo (calf roping) mainly, going to the CFR many times over the years.  He was real outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing and golfing especially with his grandchildren. He had built a unique rustic cabin by his feedlot in 1991 and he was so happy to take the grandchildren up to make a fire and have ichiban soup.

Brian always enjoyed family time

Brian is survived by his loving wife Ione of 49 years; sons Brent (Marcie) Butterfield, Curtis Butterfield and Troy (Paige Noete) Butterfield; grandchildren:  Chase, Anna, Owen, Ridge, Vivianne and Barrett; father Brian Butterfield Sr.; brothers Kent (Bev) Butterfield and Cody (Cara-Lee) Butterfield; sister Tamie (Hugh) Campbell; brother-in-law Doug (Elaine) Littau; as well as nieces, nephews other relatives and many dear friends.

Brian is predeceased by his mother Verna Butterfield; nephew Logan Campbell and grandma Florence Richmond.
