Obituary of Hermina Dinie Nell

Hermina Dinie Nell (Sijtsma)

Hermina was born in Groningen, Netherlands on September 21, 1920.  She married Cornelis (Kees) Nell in Wassenaar, South Holland on September 1, 1943 and to this union they had four children, Thys, Joan, Casey Jr. and Joe. 

The family emigrated from Holland to South Mountain, Ontario in 1953 and purchased their own farm in Osgoode, Ontario in 1959.  Hermina resided on the farm until 2004 when she relocated to Calgary to be closer to her children.  In December 2017, she moved into the Prince of Peace Retirement Community where she lived until April 16, 2021 when she moved to the Chinook Care Centre where she passed away on May 7, 2021 at the age of 100 years.

She will be greatly missed by her children, Thys (Anne) Nell of Drumheller, Joan (Jack) Robb of Chestermere, Joe (Shannon) Nell of De Winton and Catherine Nell of Winchester, Ontario.  She is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.  Hermina was predeceased by her loving husband Cornelis (Kees) Nell in 1997 and son Casey Jr. in 2001.

At Hermina’s request no funeral services will be held and interment will take place at a later date in Spring Hill Cemetery in care of Daley Family Funeral Home in Metcalfe, Ontario.
