Kenneth Lawrence Gabriel

“Kenny”

1956 - 2021

Kenny was born on April 4, 1956 at the Stettler Hospital. Kenny’s mom was Thelma Gabriel.  Thelma later married James Porter of Byemoor in 1957.  They had four children together: 2 boys William and Dean and three girls Virginia, Doreen and Laureen.  Doreen died as a young child.  So Kenny had 4 half siblings growing up.  His grandparents Lawrence and Annie were very dedicated to him and helped raise him.

Kenny’s second cousin Connie and Gerhart Haustein visited often and Kenny spent many days playing with their children, as a young child.

Kenny started school in Stettler having Mrs. Fix as his first teacher.  Kenny got to reunite with his teacher on his 60th birthday.  Kenny moved to Red Deer and finished his schooling there.

Kenny really enjoyed music singing karaoke in the bar.  He was asked to sing at the relay for life annual events and made a record.  He spent time digging up old history on his great grandparent’s homeland in Switzerland.  Ken enjoyed watching and playing hockey.  Kenny played on the Red Green farm club organized by Fred Bozek.

Kenny always had a smile on his face and loved to chat with anyone that would take the time to listen.  Kenny wore out many bikes riding around Stettler visiting many of his favorite spots.

Kenny was pleased to have people looking out for him.  Thank you to two special people Vern Dempsey and Bernie Jackson.

Kenny was living at Heart Haven before his early death on February 5, 2021 at the age of 64 years.

No formal funeral will be held at this time.
