Gail, and family
Deepest sympathy on the loss of your Dad. I got to know him at Heritage House when my dad Roy Needham was a resident there and I visited Jim everyday when I had lunch with dad. He would help the other two residents get outside to smoke. My Dad was from Big Valley so some good old BS would be passed back and forth. He was always helping other residents when he could. We had a chat at the last Pioneer Christmas Dinner in BV before Co-Vid. May he rest in peace.

Jim was adopted as an important member of our family beginning in July 2013 after Jim and my parents were in the first group to move into PWL-Stettler. Jim was always included in our family visits and we played Cribbage games, watched sports on TV, looked up different topics on the internet and shared stories. Jim will always be known as our family communications coordinator with the use of his computer and iPad to connect us. He was always generous and shared his treats and his company. Jim, on behalf of the Olson family, you were a welcomed member of our family circle and you will be missed. May you find the best sports car in Heaven and may you kick up your heels again and enjoy a round of golf and few perfect shots at the curling rink. Thanks for the years if genuine friendship.

To Gail and families.
I met Jim when he resided at Heritage house. He sat at the same table with my Dad ..Richard Rogers. He was so kind to my Dad, and always had a encouraging attitude and a joke or two, which my Dad really liked. He was also very kind and helpful to the other men at the table .I am sure he will be missed by many!

I used to work at Points West Living as a Health Care Aide. He always had a smile, helped others with their meals and always wanted me to help put on his jacket, so he could go outside. He wanted to be out in the sunshine. He will be missed.condolences to his family and friends.

My deepest condolences to Gail, Rod, Trent, Kurt and also Marlene
I will always remember your Dad's big smile. And the times travelling down to Pincher Creek with your Grandmother Millie to stay with you all.
More recently I was able to again see his smiling face at Points West when I was visiting my Dad there.
He will be missed.

Tender thoughts and prayers are with you as you make peace with Jim's death. This photo is how I'll remember him. Often smiling, well tanned, and ready to extend his good hand. I swear I felt his spirit visit and then take leave of Stettler United Church as his life ended. I was in the sanctuary Saturday evening, preparing the video of our worship service, and I happened to take notice of the 'rub' marks on the door frame. Why would they have caught my attention like that?!?!? Jim and his wheelchair -- coming up the ramp, and into place near the back west section of pews -- came immediately to mind/heart. We so appreciated his presence when he was able to join us in worship downtown and at Points West Living. May warm memories surround you now. Jan Richardson @ Stettler United Church.

Is it fortunate? I think so. When Uncle Jim had his stroke I was working in Red Deer hospital and spent a few months of my lunch breaks with him. Bonding over numerous conversations about nothing and everything. Goodbye to my dear uncle. A man of many faces. Each of you who knew him have your own memories. Hang on to the ones that made you smile!

So long ol pal. Thanks for dragging me to the piano every time we visited at the home in Stettler. When I asked him if it was okay he said “I say it’s ok. Music is always ok”. God love ya pal.

Jim will always be remembered to me - of all of the wonderful words written of him in his obituary- but there are no words for all the graciousness & kindness he always had for me & my family. So giving and generous in his heart.’
Our friendship grew - when I met him at first at Heritage (2010), when my Mom became a resident there. We spent many times together & also Jim spent lots of time with my family whether visiting in the atrium - playing cards - family outings - at the Legion - and all of the drives I would take him. The most special would be the outing with my dad & Jim - I drove us to Big Valley for lunch & to look at museum & tool museum. June of 2015
All of our trips & visits were all so special - but another is when Jim & I went to Rosebud - he wanted to go for a dinner & then we went to watch the theatre - “ Helen Keller”
We kept close in our calls & my visits to him - but today Dec 7,2020 as I took Jim his Christmas gift - I had to bring it home
So with my sad heart - I send all my thoughts & prayers to Jim’s family & all who knew him, as yes he was always so interesting to talk with & listen to. Forever in my heart - dear James - miss you so.
Life is a journey of sweetness and sorrow
Of yesterday’s memories & hopes for tomorrow
Of pathways we choose and detours we face
With patience and humour; courage and grace
Of joys that we’ve shared and people we’ve met
Who have touched us in ways we will never forget
