Obituary of Gladys Mabel Nicklom
Gladys Nicklom
October 30, 1927 – November 16, 2020
Gladys Mabel Nicklom lived a full and amazing life, in her 93 years she left little to be accomplished. Gladys passed away peacefully to begin her next journey and to be with her beloved partner and husband Otto.
Gladys is survived by daughters Dianne (Dale) Allen, Melodie (Les) Peters; grandchildren Ryana (Ward) Mather, Lonnie (Sunaina) Allen, Jesse (Krista) Allen, Angelica Peters, Archer Peters; great grandchildren Brooklyn Robicheau, Payton Mather, Masen Mather, Liam Allen. Gladys is predeceased by husband Otto; parents Alex and Elvine Soop; sisters Florence Jensen and Marge Sofroniuk.
Gladys lived a full life, and left an everlasting impression on those who crossed her path. She was a gentle loving soul who would embrace everyone and make them feel comfortable, like being at home.
She was an extraordinary woman, loving wife, mother, mother-in-law and grandmother. Her memory lives on through her daughters Dianne and Melodie. She will be missed by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and the wealth of friends she made along the way.
Gladys was raised on a farm just west of Big Valley, where she spent most of her life. After graduating high school, she was a supervisor at Fritz Hill School and then worked with the Royal Bank of Canada. Farming was a livelihood shared with her husband Otto. Gardening, cooking and sewing were her passion in which she was very talented. Her kitchen table was always filled with home-made baked goods and great conversation with folks of all ages. In 1995, Otto and Gladys retired from farming and moved into their brand-new home in Stettler. Otto and Gladys enjoyed their home for many years and had the opportunity to grow old with each other and live life to the fullest with family, friends, grandchildren and great grandchildren. In November of 2016, they moved into Points West.
Gladys was blessed in which she was loved and respected by many. She was a proud, humble woman with a kind and gentle spirit. To live life of passion, honesty and determination, this truly is a legacy Gladys has left us all to be guided by. She certainly was a beautiful person and will never be forgotten.
