Obituary of Holley Louise Zinck

Please share a memory of Holley to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Holley Louise Zinck passed away on Friday, July 3 in Coronation Hospital and Care Centre following a brief struggle with multiple myeloma.

Holley was born and educated in Nova Scotia.  The daughter of the late William and Doris Zinck, she was one of five sisters and five brothers.  Holley graduated from Mt. St. Vincent University in Halifax with a Bachelor of Science and Education Degree.  Her horizons were broadened when she accepted a teaching position in Grande Prairie, then a successful teaching career in Coronation.  Until her retirement she enjoyed being on staff at Youngstown School.  Holley's passion for teaching was evident whether teaching Grade eight students to sew pyjama bottoms or working with Primary students to improve reading skills.  As a Parent Council member she lobbied for the small, rural school to provide the best education to all students.

Holley was always a tenacious advocate for her daughter Sarah.  She supported her in school studies and extracurricular activities.  Holley was so proud of Sarah's accomplishments.

Holley's home was her castle.  She took great pride in her decorating projects inside as well as throughout the yard.  Family and friends were often treated to extraordinary meals, prepared with the best ingredients and presentation.

Holley was competent and resourceful and never stepped down from a challenge.  Although a Maritimer, she eagerly embraced prairie life with all its challenges and rewards.

A friend recently described Holley as a brave soul. May she rest in peace and the knowledge that she was loved."

Holley will be sadly missed and leaves to mourn her passing: daughter Sarah Bailey; sister Heather MacPherson; brothers Brenton Zinck and Mervin Zinck; Richard Bailey; other relatives and many dear friends and neighbours.

Donations in memory of Holley are gratefully accepted to the Coronation Hospital Foundation or a charity of the donor’s choice.
