Max Rowland Potter

1931 – 2020

Max Rowland Potter, 89 of Gadsby, Alberta passed away on June 19, 2020 at Stettler Health Centre.  Max was born in Stettler, youngest son of Bert and Maisie Potter on February 21, 1931.   Max loved the land that he farmed which was only a mile from where he was born and raised.  He led a simple and humble life with his dairy and beef cattle, harvest grain and hay crops and silage crews as some of the highlights.  Most of all he loved his children, who all worked beside him from the time they were young. That love grew as he welcomed each new grandchild and great grandchild into the family.  His great sense of humor and quick wit was magnetic and earned the respect of his family, friends and neighbors.  Max actively farmed until the past couple of years when his health began to fail.  In addition to farming he really enjoyed his time served as councilor for the County of Stettler.

Max is survived by his wife of 62 years, Lorraine Potter; children: Doug (Lynne), Gord (Laurel), Lorisa (Clay), Shellene (Gary) and daughter in law Cathie; grandchildren: Dustin Potter, Lauren (Clint) Saruga, Michael (Robyn) Potter, Candace (Greg) Boxma, Landon (Justine) Potter, Danielle (Austin) Tomaski, Shayna, Tori and Tyson Brower, Carter and Logan Veno and Blake Claffey; along with nine great grandchildren; nieces, nephews and many friends.

There will be a private family service followed by interment into the beautiful Omega Circle Cemetery.

Memorial Contributions may be made in Max’s memory to the Omega Gadsby Cemetery.
