At Doug's Request There Will Be No Service
Obituary of Doug Johnson
Doug Johnson
May 11, 1943 - June 14, 2020
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Robert Douglas “Doug” Johnson of Endiang, on June 14, 2020 at the age of 77 years. Doug passed away in Red Deer hospital with his son Scott at his side. Doug was a farmer/rancher his entire life and enjoyed days at the auction market watching cattle sales and “BS”ing with his fellow industry comrades. Doug enjoyed people and visiting and always had time to chat. He was an active member in his community and county, serving on many boards and organizations and was recognized in 2018 for his more than 30+ years on the county Rec Board. He was no stranger to volunteering his time to serve his community. Throughout his life Doug always enjoyed sports as a player, coach and spectator especially baseball, hockey and curling. He was also very involved in 4-H as a member, leader and supporter. Doug was a good Dad, a beloved uncle and an awesome grandpa! He loved and was immensely proud of all of his grandchildren. They all knew they could count on grandpa for any kind of support they needed; he was always there for them. In his spare time Doug could be found reading or listening to talk radio programs. He was interested in history and politics and could rise to the challenge of any trivia contest thrown at him!
Doug is survived by his wife of 53 years Deanna; children Scott (Mercedes) Jodi (Jim) and Steven (Carla); beloved grandchildren: Caitlyn (Tyler), Kelsey (Kendell), Cody, Ashley, Gunnar, Joslyn, Natalie, Holly, Lincoln and Alaina; precious great grandson Zachary David. His inlaws: Blanche Johnson, Jeanne and Mac Sinclair, Ken Walker, Joyce and Dick Moore, Evelyn Walker, Winnie Paulsen, Doris Schilling, Dennis and Sally Walker, Joy Walker, Lynda and Clifford Wilkie, Rod Rarick (Iris), Allen Walker (Connie), Renny Walker and many, many nieces and nephews.
Doug was predeceased by his parents Phyllis and Gunnar Johnson; brother Donnie Johnson; mother and father in law Bessie and Harry Walker; brothers and sisters in law Buster (Betty) (Ann) Walker, Bob Walker, Donnie Walker, Judy Rarick, Colleen Walker, Paul Paulsen and Roy Schilling.
Memorial Contributions in memory of Doug may be made to the Endiang Cemetery or to Endiang Community Society.
