Obituary of Judith Anne Giesbrecht
In Loving Memory of
Judy Giesbrecht
April 17, 1949 - May 18, 2020
Judy was born in Calgary, Alberta on April 17th, 1949, she was the second daughter born to Bea and Walt McLaughlin. Judy has one sister Brenda Verheire of Ponoka, Alberta. In 1951 they moved to Vancouver, BC.; when her dad joined the Air Force. They were then stationed in Morhange, France for four and a half years, then in Chatham, NB and then finally posted in Cold Lake, AB where Judy finished school.
Judy became a proud mom of two sons. When she was twenty, she had her oldest boy Ed and then her second boy Charlie when she was twenty-two, with her first husband Lance Staines. Judy and Lance divorced when the boys were young. Judy met her soul mate and true love Jack Giesbrecht in 1977. Jack and Judy were married August 24th, 1979 in Maple Ridge, BC and blended their families. Judy became a stepmom to three more children: Sheryl, Angie and Joe Giesbrecht.
Judy and Jack moved their family to Chase, BC in 1983 and this is where they raised their family. Judy became awesome at horticulture and retail work. Judy had the joy of becoming a Grandma to twelve grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
In 2007/08 Judy and Jack moved to Williams Lake, BC for their retirement. They both worked part time. Judy was a greeter for Walmart for several years and Jack did maintenance at a local hotel. In 2013 Judy and Jack moved and settled in Gadsby, AB. They made themselves a beautiful home there. They planted several fruit trees and bushes that Judy loved. Judy continued to work at Walmart as a greeter in Stettler and Jack did maintenance at the Ramada. Judy was diagnosed and fought Cancer not once, but twice.
We lost an amazingly beautiful wife, mother, grandmother, sister, auntie, and friend! Judy was a funny, smart, and quick-witted lady that is loved by all.
Judy is survived by her loving and devoted husband Jack Giesbrecht of Gadsby; three sons: Ed (Yvonne) Giesbrecht, Charlie (Tasha) Giesbrecht and Joe (Ashley) Giesbrecht; thirteen grandchildren; mom Beulah McLaughlin; sister Brenda Verheire; niece Susan Weber Couper (Lyle); nephew Bruce (Jayne) Weber; two great nephew's Kelsey Sutherland and Sheldon Petty; best friends Patti and Dave Price of Chase, BC; as well as many other dear friends and family.
Judy is predeceased by dad Walton McLaughlin and brother-in-law George Verheire.
Donations in memory of Judy are gratefully accepted to the Canadian Cancer Society, STARS or charity of your choice.
