Obituary of Patsy Mae Sorensen
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Patsy Sorensen. She passed away peacefully on April 18, 2020 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Camrose at the age of 74 years.
She was born in Castor to Tillie and Harry Schilling of Halkirk, the second oldest daughter. Patsy attended Leder School, and graduated High School from Halkirk.
She met Allen Sorensen, the love of her life. They were married in 1964 and to this union were born Brenda, Brent and Codee. Patsy and Allen built their farm up from scratch and farmed together for 30 years until his passing in 1995.
She loved her country music on the radio and would always sing along. The one thing she was gifted with was her beautiful voice. She sang in Christmas concerts and church in Rosehaven where she resided.
On the farm she always had a plentiful garden through the years. Her other passions were canning, baking, knitting, playing the accordion and mouth organ. She also liked going to rummage sales to find treasures. In her younger years she enjoyed curling.
She stayed on the farm raising Codee. With her health deteriorating over the years, she moved to the Castor Lodge and from there she went to a long term care facility.
Sundays were a great time to have the kids come home and have supper. She loved her family, especially her one and only grandson Brett. There would be some laughter with her witty sense of humor.
She leaves to mourn, her loving children: Brenda (Bruce) Iversen and grandson Brett, Brent and Codee. Forever in our hearts. Her sisters Betty (Wade) Jameson, Debbie Schilling and her brother Allan Schilling. Sisters in law Clara Sorensen, Ella (John) Kisser, Marjorie Sorensen, Dallas Raessler and brother in law Ken (Marcella) Reeves. She will be dearly missed by other relatives and friends.
She was predeceased by her parents Harry and Tillie Schilling, her husband Allen, sister Judy Reeves, mother and father in law Grace and Andrew Sorensen, sisters in law: Eva Galster, Anne Ridgedale and Agnes Sorensen; brothers in law: Andy Sorensen, Ernie Sorensen, Bill Sorensen, Willie Raessler, Hardy Galster and George Ridgedale.
A Celebration of Patsy’s Life will be held at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to Alberta Heart & Stroke, Endiang Cemetery or a charity of your own choice.
