Obituary of Norm "Normie" Ternes

Norman Walter Ternes “Normie” was born May 2nd, 1963 in Kerrobert Saskatchewan. In 1969 his parents Esther, Wally, along with younger brother Les moved to Stettler. It was here Norm found his love for sports, especially hockey, a sport in which he excelled! It was on the ice where Norm found his true happiness. It is said that he was probably the most polite player, usually apologizing after giving a slash or stealing the puck. In 1985 Norm met the love of his life Lisa Cornelssen, and the two married on July 4, 1987. They were blessed with their first daughter Chelsey on Sept 17, 1988, and the kids kept coming. Breanna arrived June of 1990, Kaitlin July of 1993 and then of course Norm got his twin boys Scott and Adam in February of 1996. In 1997 Norm, along with Jerry Riggins, Gayle Cassidy and Cy Davidson opened their own oilfield supply company: JEN Supply. With hard work and determination, Norm helped build a successful business. The business sold in 2007. Now with lots of time on his hands and an entrepreneurial spirit, he and Don Lynn launched into recycling glycol and hence Re-Glycol was born. Again with hard work, this business flourished. Norm loved coaching hockey and baseball. He enjoyed kids and teaching them all the skills he had. He was a very determined man who put every ounce of energy into everything he did. Whether it was work, coaching, or just loving his family, he did it with gusto and a big smile. He approached his cancer the same way, nothing was going to stop him. Even on the days when he was clearly not well, he would be doing whatever needed to be done. It was just his nature. He was so loved by many, probably more than he ever knew. He will be deeply missed. Donations in Norm's memory can be made to STARS, Alberta Cancer Foundation, Kidsport or Stettler Minor Hockey.
