Obituary of John Innocent

John was born at Botha, Alberta on May 19, 1921 and passed away November 30, 2018 at the age of 97 years. He grew up with 8 siblings on the homestead south of Botha. John married Vally Farnquist on August 24, 1945 in Calgary. To this union were born three daughters and two sons whom of which took over the family farm. He started his early career by trucking, grain and cattle farming. Whenever anyone came to visit, he always invited them in for coffee and Vally’s home baked cookies and cake. John and Vally made several trips to the west coast and Manitoba and throughout some of the U.S. He enjoyed his cattle farming and always had a couple of saddle horses and a team of horses. In his younger years, he also rode a steer or two. John loved his family, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and when they were small John often got down on all fours and gave them horsey back rides and the fun began. He was also known for paying them to tickle his feet. His farming career never stopped even when John and Vally retired to Stettler in 1976. He is survived and will be greatly missed by his wife, of 73 years, Vally; daughters: Pat Deacon (Dwayne Potter) of Edmonton, Wanda (Doug) Andersen of Red Deer, Debbie Nielsen (Mark Moore) of Sylvan Lake; sons: Gary (Lois) Innocent of Big Valley, Glen (Judy) Innocent of Stettler; grandchildren: Jack, Janelle, Robyn, Leslee (David), Michael, Shauna (Bryan), Corey (Dalice), Jena (Ken), Tyler (Kristi), Brittany (Steven) and Courtney; great grandchildren: Dederick, Trisha, Joshua, Jeremy, Skyla, Avaya, Tallin, Emmit, Atlas, Emerson and one on the way; sister Mary (Bob) Thomson of Edmonton; sister-in-law Madeleine Innocent of Stettler; numerous nieces, nephews and friends. John was predeceased by his mother and father; four sisters and four brothers.
