Obituary of Frederick Ronald Maetche

MAETCHE, Frederick Ronald “FRED” October 23, 1934 – November 24, 2018 It is with sadness that the family announce the passing of our beloved Husband, Father and Papa Fred on November 24, 2018 at the age of 84 years. Fred was born on the farm a few miles west of Torrington, AB. on Oct. 23, 1934 to Frederick & Emelia Maetche. He was only 7 years of age when his father passed away suddenly leaving himself, his mother and 9 older siblings to carry on with the farm. Fred loved the farm and throughout his life would often take anyone interested out to visit the “old homestead”. As a teenager, Fred attended Hillcrest Bible College in Medicine Hat. He eventually moved to Red Deer where he began his career in retail. He managed at The Bay before making the move to Bourke’s Men’s Wear. He obtained his Life Insurance license which he held for over 30 years until his passing. Fred will be remembered by everyone for his kindness, unwavering faith and sense of humor. He is survived by his loving wife Jo of Red Deer, 3 sons and their wives; Steve and Terry, Ken and Dawn, Rory and Cheryl, 7 grandsons; Kyle, Scott (Katie), Curtis, Tanner (Emily), Josh, Jeremy, and Kevin, and a very special great granddaughter Bryn, one sister-in-law, Louise Maetche, as well as numerous extended family members in both the Maetche and Traub families. Fred was predeceased by his infant son Robert and 9 brothers and sisters. A Celebration of Fred’s life will be held from the Living Stones Church, 2020-40 Ave., Red Deer, AB. on Thursday, November 29, 2018 at 1:00 PM.
