Obituary of "Larry" John Larry Oro

We are deeply saddened by the passing of John Larry Oro (known as Larry) who left us suddenly on Friday April 27, 2018 at the age of 71. Larry was born in Stettler to parents Agnes and Otto Oro on September 25, 1946 and spent his entire life on the family farm. Larry lost both his parents as a young teenager. He and his brother Bruce Oro were left to farm at a very young age. He was always a hard worker, striving to make a better life for his family. Larry also worked off the farm. He drove school bus for 39 years and in some cases three generations from the same family. He was the only western Canadian producer of wooden stock tanks for the farming communities and even made a few for western movies. Contracting through UFA he built shelters, bin floors, bins, etc. Larry and Linda became landlords about 25 years ago and were kept very busy over the years looking after their properties. In the latter years he finally started to relax and enjoy what he worked very hard for. Married for almost 52 years, Larry was a wonderful husband and father. His wife and kids were his focus and he always made time for them. Larry is survived by his loving family: wife Linda; sons: Marc, Shane (Marie) and Rob; daughter in law Tia; grandson Kyler; granddaughters Jade (Dallas) Hulkovich and Kianna; great grandchildren: Eli, Kassius and Abel; brother Bruce; numerous nieces and nephews; other family members and many dear friends. A funeral service for Larry Oro was held on Friday May 4, 2018 at the Stettler Funeral Home with Reverend Mervyn Penfound officiating. Loving tributes were presented by family and friends. Larry was laid to rest at Lake View Cemetery, Stettler, Alberta. Donations in memory are gratefully accepted to the Alberta Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of your choice.
