Obituary of Hazel Gertrude Rachar
Hazel was born on March 19, 1917, at Erskine, Alberta, to Harry and Millie Gaines. She had two younger brothers, Glenn and Clifford.
Hazel attended Laketon and Whetzel school to grade 9, and then completed her High School in Erskine. After High School, Hazel lived at home and helped out on the farm.
In 1955, Hazel married Charles Rachar where she helped raise her stepdaughter, Glady. Harlan was born to Charles and Hazel in 1959.
Hazel worked hard on the farm, but she always found time to enjoy her many interests and hobbies. Among these were birdwatching, crossword puzzles, reading, sewing, putting up bluebird houses all around the countryside and watching baseball and hockey games on TV.
Hazel also loved her animals. Over the years she had many exotic birds, numerous cats and dogs.
For many years, Hazel was the secretary/treasurer for Sunday School at the Erskine Free Church, and she also did the books for the Ewing Community Hall.
