Obituary of Ernest Kerbes
Ernie Kerbes passed away on Thursday September 21, 2017 at Heritage House in Stettler, Alberta at the age of 92 years. Ernie was born in Stettler on April 22, 1925 and resided there until his passing. During his long life he worked in forestry logging in Campbell River, BC, worked in the oilfield in Alberta and was a longtime farmer. Living on the farm he had many family pets including a cat named Bobbi and a dog named Moe. Ernie loved family gatherings and playing the violin with a favorite song called “Red Wing” by Don Messer and His Islanders.
Ernie is survived by his wife Irene; children: Fay Kerbes, Tom Kerbes, Jessie Kennedy (Kelly Mailer), Joan Kerbes (Juergen Ross), Iris (Rick) Marshall; grandchildren: Dustin (Kirby) Kennedy, Chris Marshall (Darcie Brain), Stephanie (Jesse) Young; great grandchildren: Kenton, Landon, Hayleigh and their mother Natasha Marshall, Meg; he is also survived by his brother Jim Kerbes of Boyle, Alberta, sister-in-law Millie Nicklom of Stettler and brother-in-law Clifford Sivacoe of Texas. Ernie was predeceased by his parents John and Malaine Kerbes; brothers Alec and Archie Kerbes; sisters: Julia Hennel, Hilda Dancocks, Geneva Parker, Helen Mulligan and Marj Olive.
A graveside service for Ernie will be held at the Estonian Cemetery on Thursday, September 28, 2017 at 1:00 PM. The cemetery is located 12Km south on Highway 56 and 2Km east on TWP 37-4 (Linda Hall Road) with the cemetery located to the north. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Donalda Animal Rescue, Box 244, Donalda, AB T0B 1H0.
