Obituary of Betty Frieda Kercher

Betty Frieda Kercher, 84, passed away peacefully on May 6, 2017. She was the widow to Harold Kercher. Betty was born in Belbutte, Saskatchewan on June 23, 1932, daughter of Rose and Wilhelm Guhl. Betty grew up in Belbutte until leaving at the age of 15 years for Alliance, Alberta. Here was where she found the love of her life, Harold. They were married on January 5, 1949 and began to build their farm and raise their family. Betty was not just any farm wife, she worked right beside her husband from dawn until dusk and ran the household as well. Betty loved playing ball, curling, floor curling, bowling, dancing and just having fun. Having a father that served in the Military, she joined the Royal Canadian Legion #94 where she served as President for a term. She will always be remembered for her fresh baked buns, her endless supply of food, coffee and fellowship at the farm. Betty is survived by her son Roger Kercher; grandson Brad Kercher (fiance Ashlin) and his children Sean Kercher and Kelly Kercher; grandson Derrik (Donna) Kercher and their children Taylor Kercher and Samantha Kercher; daughter Valerie Erickson; grandson Ryan (Brandy) Erickson and their children Carter and Jackson; granddaughter Sheryl (Keith) Van Haga and their children Parker and Paige; granddaughter Sheriesse (Dustin) Baker and their child Dylan; sister Kay Marlow; brother Albert (Josephine) Guhl; other family members and a host of friends. She was predeceased by her husband Harold Kercher; great grandson Riley Meston; daughter in law Margaret Kercher; brothers: Paul, Wilfred, Charlie and David. A graveside service will be held on Friday, May 12, 2017 at 2:00 P.M. at the Alliance Cemetery, Alliance, Alberta. Fellowship will follow at the Alliance Community Hall. Donations in memory of Betty may be made to the Royal Canadian Legion #94, Alliance, Alberta T0B 0A0 ot the Bapaume Cemetery, P.O. Box 1016, Spiritwood, Saskatchewan S0J 2M0.
