Obituary of Brenda Lynne Simpson

BRENDA LYNNE SIMPSON June 17, 1963 - August 8, 2016 Brenda was born in Rimbey, AB, June 17, 1963 to Bob and Vivian Kilpatrick; the youngest of three children. She grew up in the Leedale area and attended school in Rimbey until they moved to Rocky Mountain House, AB in 1974. She completed her high school years there, graduating in 1980. As a young girl, Brenda was always happy-go-lucky. She was very outgoing and friendly. She liked to be involved in everything as shown by her involvement in such things as Brownies and then joining the Sea Cadets. After graduation she worked around Rocky for a few years, then one day she packed up and travelled to Banff to work in housekeeping at the Banff Springs Hotel. It was there that she met Gordon Simpson. They were married on August 9, 1986. Their oldest son Derek was born in 1987. Then in 1998 their second son Dylan came along, soon followed by their daughter Amanda in 1999. Together they had many happy memories over the next few years. Then health issues began to plague Brenda. She was very fortunate to have the love and support of her family, as well as her church family. We are very grateful for all the help and support they have shown to Brenda, Gordon and kids. In the last year they moved to Stettler where they presently reside. Brenda is survived by her husband of 30 years Gordon, her sons Derek and Dylan and her daughter Amanda, mother Vivian Kilpatrick of Rocky Mountain House, one brother Lloyd Kilpatrick (Patti) of Olds, one sister Colleen Connelly (Ed) of Rocky Mountain House, one brother-in-law Ian Simpson of Campbell River, BC and one sister-in-law Pat McDougall (Alan Woodruff) of Gold River, BC, also several nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and nephews. A celebration of Brenda's life will be held in Rocky Mountain House on August 12, 2016 at 1:30 PM at The Lord’s Food Bank with Pastor Dan Gonzalas officiating. A service will also held at the Stettler Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, August 16, 2016 at 1:00 PM with Pastor Sean Unkauf officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to the Diabetes Foundation or the Kidney Foundation.
