Obituary of Dixie Marie Lovell

Dixie Marie Lovell (Bateman) Live Well, Laugh Often, Love Much Dixie Marie Lovell passed away at her home in Stettler on June 6, 2016 at the age of 77. Dixie was born on August 11, 1938 to Herbert and Frances Bateman in Stettler. Dixie married her best friend Dave on July 18, 1959 and they began their union of love, hard work and farming. Three children followed soon after and Dixie relished in her job as Chief Cook and Bottle Washer, Mom and Farm Wife. Dixie always loved the farm and admired a bountiful crop: whether a field of wheat, a well maintained vegetable garden or a showy bed of flowers. She was a competitive force on the golf course, had a great rifle shot and loved nothing more than a good book, a beautiful day and a great pair of new shoes. (And a purse!) Dixie was a skilled combine operator and spent many hours and years harvesting alongside Dave. She was an exceptional cook, baker and jam maker. The cabin at Buffalo Lake was one of Dixie's favorite places to visit with family and friends over a cold one, while watching the soaring birds, rich foliage and the lake. Dixie was a beautiful soul and will be dearly missed and always remembered for her quick wit, determination, sense of humor and unwavering love for her family. She leaves a legacy of love and handmade quilts for her beloved husband David Lovell, children Greg (Cyndy) Lovell, Karen Anderson and Katherine (Mark) Luchenski, eight grandchildren and their spouses and ten great grandchildren. A celebration of Dixie’s life was held on Sunday, June 12, 2016 at the Stettler Funeral Home with Reverend Jack Schulze officiating. A reading was given by Irene Turner, special memories were shared by grandson T. Jay Lovell on behalf of Dixie’s grandchildren and Jack Schulze gave the eulogy. A walk down memory lane pictorial tribute accompanied by favorite music was presented. Dixie was laid to rest in Lake View Cemetery, Stettler.
