So-o-o sorry to hear of Jeff's death. When he was 19 years old he worked on our farm for about a year. He and Amber were just married and lived on our yard in the hired man's house. We lost touch. We attended Amber's funeral and saw how much he loved Amber and you, as he carried you (Ami), so close to his heart, as he walked down the long aisle towards your mother's coffin. And although I have never seen you since, Ami, and I have never met you, Wanda I feel that he would be feeling that same love to you both until the day he died. Even when, like most men, he might not be able to show it sometimes. He was a very caring man and when I was pregnant he informed me to get down from the counter top "right now". He was afraid that I might fall while I was reaching into the high cupboard. He was a hard worker. One time when I had stomped down the corn, which he then had to pull/dig up, he let me know that he NEVER wanted me to do that again! He was a hard worker but not so much that he wanted to work THAT hard! There is no answer to "why". I remember Jeff saying that he did not understand "why' your birth mother, Amber died but he said: "Maybe Ami will be used in some way to find a cure for diabetes. And then there will be something good come out of Amber's death". And even if the diabetes thing has not happened (that I know of) you and Wanda have the opportunity to continue to do good things in your life and keep Jeff's goodness alive, too. I pray that you can feel God's presence as you grieve and that you, Ami and Wanda, are able to stay close as family need to do. Praying for you, and all those who are grieving. Lilian Gaertner.
