Obituary of Cecil Howard Fehr
Cecil was born to parents Marie and John Fehr in Hanna, Alberta. He attended school to grade 7 when he quit, going to work on ranches in the area.
In the 1960’s while working on the oil rigs he was presented with Driller’s Safety Certificates; he even spent some time in Kuwait working on the rigs. In the late 1960’s Cecil moved to the Yukon and started a career with the Northern Canada Power Commission (NCPC), at this time he took Heavy Duty Mechanics and Sationary Engine courses. He received long service awards for his dedicated work from 1967-1983 when he retired, but he was rehired by the same company to work in Inuvik, NWT, which he did until 1993.
Cec was a longtime member of the Royal Canadian Legion in North America’s northern most Branch at Inuvik, NWT Branch #220. He was also a member of the Elks for many years.
Cecil died peacefully in Heritage House, Stettler, Alberta.
Cecil was predeceased by his sister Carolyn in 1958; father John in 1968; mother Marie in 1972; as well as former wife Josephine Hoffard Fehr. Cecil is survived by his loving family: son Kelly Botterill of Maple Ridge, British Columbia; daughter Maxine Netro Fehr of Whitehorse, Yukon; two granddaughters; one grandson; one great grandson; three brothers: Don of Wildwood, Alberta, Les of Shelburne, Nova Scotia and Herb of Brooks, Alberta; four sisters: Marj Arnold of Courtney, British Columbia, Ilene Wright of Bashaw, Alberta, Bev Makarra (Bernie) of Calgary, Alberta and Anna Marie Luchies (George) of Brooks, Alberta; former wife Josephine Netro of Whitehorse, Yukon; other family members and many dear friends.
