Obituary of Gloria Ruth Riggins

Gloria Ruth Riggins was born August 12, 1952 in Stettler, Alberta to Colin (Con) and Rebecca Jane (Janet) Graham. All her childhood was lived in the same house at 5407-50th Ave, which is now the High School parking lot. The two evergreen trees in the parking lot were located in their front yard. She attended the Stettler School, which was across the alley from their home, from Grade one until graduation from High School in 1970. After graduation, she took a secretarial business course in Red Deer for one year. In April of 1972 she married Howard Rich and from this union three children Jody, Alan and Jeff were born. She lived in the Redwater area until 1982 when she moved back to Stettler with her children. At this time, she took a refresher business course through the adult education program for reentry into the work force. On April 14, 1986, Gloria married Allen (Hoagie) Riggins in Stettler. From this union two sons Rocky and T.J. were born. She worked at various positions in Stettler over the years. The most cherished were in the care giving field, specifically her day home and her current position at Willow Creek Lodge. There have been many testimonials of her dedication and caring manner in everything she did. She and Hoagie enjoyed walking their dogs, bowling, camping, playing card games and triominoes with friends and family. There were many friendly campfires in the backyard fire pit. Her favorite pastime was spending time with and talking about her six grandchildren. Millions of trees were sacrificed to provide all the photos she had of them. Gloria was predeceased by her parents Con in 1987 and Janet in 2005, her father in law Herman Riggins in 1980 and a niece Jenika Rainville in 2005. She is survived by her devoted husband Al (Hoagie); her children Jody (Chris) Zachoda of St. Michael, Alan (Leanda) Rich of Valleyview, Jeff (Cara) Rich of Bruderhiem, Rocky Riggins (Kathleen Kerr) of Edmonton and T.J. Riggins of Lethbridge; grandchildren: Rebecca and Nicholas Zachoda, Kye and Adara Rich, Kale and Gage Ridsdale; mother in law Eva Riggins of Erskine and special friend Charlie Banwell of Coronation; sisters Joan (Joe) Baltimore of Stettler, Sheila (Roger) Rainville of Stettler, brother Gordon (Eileen) Graham of Victoria, BC, brother in law Jerry (Sandy) Riggins of Erskine; many cherished nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
