Obituary of Harvey Charles Pooley

Charles Harvey Pooley passed away August 20, 2013, just after his 90th birthday, at the Stettler Health Care Centre. He was the last living child of Charles and Maud Pooley. Harvey was born May 29, 1923 in Erskine, Alberta. He married Reta Savage on December 2, 1946. They made their home on a farm in the Great Bend area near Delburne where they lived for 5 years. While living on the farm their son Doug was born. Harvey, Reta and Doug moved to Erskine, Alberta in the early fifties and their daughter Nancy was born there. The family then moved to Stettler and stayed in the same house for about 50 years. After farming Harvey started working oil rigs, then operated wells for Earl Bergman, then started his own oil field company which he owned until he retired. Over the years he was an active member of the Stettler Town and County Museum, Good Sam Club and the Antique Car Club. Harvey and Reta moved to Willow Creek in 2005, but never slowed down; they were always On The Road Again. Harvey is survived by his son Doug; daughter Nancy, her husband Myles and their son Kyle; one sister in law Lois Savage; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of good friends, including Donna and Dale Chapman, Rose and John Grant and Blanche and Dale Henry. Harvey was predeceased by his wife Reta in 2007; his brother Stanton (Cora) Pooley; his sisters: Glen (John) Nicklom, Lulu (Ernest) Rowledge, Maude (Dave) Stewart, Helen (Neil) McKay and twin sister May (Norman) Stewart.
