Obituary of Lillian Mary Betty Sinclair
Lillian Mary “Betty” Sinclair (nee Johnson) was born January 6, 1924 at Rowley, Alberta and passed away October 31, 2012 in the Pine Ridge Extended Care in Stettler, Alberta at the age of 88 years.
Betty (or Bud) as she was known to many, took her schooling at Stonehenge, Greenridge and her grade 10 at Big Valley. Betty married Lawrence Sinclair on November 25, 1943 in the Rowley Manse. They farmed at Rumsey for many years and in May of 1967 moved to a farm at Bashaw. Later downsizing to a smaller farm which son Bill and Darlene now own and eventually moving in 1981 to Bashaw for retirement. It was then that mom joined the WI enjoying the fellowship and work of that organization. In December 2009 she decided to move to Willow Creek Lodge in Stettler. After a short illness she was transferred to the Pine Ridge Extended Care until her passing.
Betty leaves to mourn her passing, her children: Anne Fraser of Camrose, Elsie (Norman) Deering of Rumsey, Norma Fraser of Big Valley, Tom of Rumsey, Ed of Stettler, Bill (Darlene) of Bashaw; twenty grandchildren and thirty two great grandchildren; six brothers; three sisters; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. Betty was predeceased by her husband Lawrence; sons in law Austin and Robert Fraser; parents Johnny and Mary Johnson; and her brother Gene Johnson.
A funeral service for Betty Sinclair will be held at the Bashaw Community Centre on Saturday, November 3, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. with Reverend Ross Helgeton officiating. If desired memorial donations may be made to Bashaw Cemetery or a charity of choice.
