Kathrine Stull

Obituary of Kathrine Rose Stull

Kathy Stull was born at Acme, March 6, 1942. She was the third of seven children born to Ed and Rose Keim. As a farm girl she learned many skills; she could pretty much do anything. Kathy met the love of her life – Bob Stull. They were married Feb. 22nd, 1961. In the marriage ceremony it says the two shall become one, and Kathy and Bob certainly were one. They always discussed everything before jumping in with both feet, pretty much doing everything together. One of Kathy’s skills was sewing. She and her two sisters Betty and Linda sewed like a dream, creating everything from tea towels to baby blankets to graduation and wedding dresses. She would tackle any sewing job, and you would be guaranteed a flawless result. Kathy also had a unique talent for writing poetry; a few of her poems will be read today. Cooking was another passion in Kathy’s life. Many wonderful meals were concocted in her kitchen. She taught her children to cook at an early age – and boy “can they cook.” Her grandchildren spent many happy times cooking with her as well. The kids looked forward to going to Grandma’s and baking cookies, cakes or buns and making casseroles or whatever they happened to have a taste for. Kathy and Bob loved to camp with family and friends. Nature walks and evening campfires being the hi-lights of each day. She even dealt with yellow jacket nests with calculated efficiency dressed in her funny looking “protective gear.” Kathy loved farming. When she and Bob lived in Calgary they came often to the home farm at Acme, helping out with whatever needed to be done. When they moved to Stettler and bought the farm, she was in her glory. If one was out in the field, or in the barn, so was the other one – sharing the work load whether it be milking cows, combining, driving grain truck, or farrowing pigs - whatever needed doing. In the course of one’s life, there are a few special people, and in my life – Kathy was one. She was not only my “sister,” she was my FRIEND. From the time Bob and I started dating; Kathy and Bob were our frequent companions. We spent countless hours together, whether it be working or kicking back relaxing. I lived with them in Calgary for a short while before Bob and I got married. When Bob and Bob were trucking together Kathy always knew which one of them was turning the corner of 17th Ave. and 54th St. by the sound of their trucks. We would hurry to get supper on the table. They came home each night to a wonderful home cooked meal, even though she had just got home from work herself a short while before. Kathy and I developed a special relationship. She taught me a lot and their family and ours enjoyed each other immensely. She was always there for us, and when my Bob passed away last year, Kathy and sister Linda were there beside us, helping to look after him. Their compassion and love will never be forgotten. Kathy was recognized around the community as an active volunteer and caretaker. She was involved with many of our seniors at the auxiliary hospital and nursing home. Prior to her work with the geriatric community Kathy was familiar to many of us as the friendly, helpful sales girl and talented engraver at Graham’s Jewelery where she was employed for numerous years. Kathy lives on in her beloved children and grandchildren and in the beautiful wedding dresses, bridesmaid dresses and wedding cakes that were created by her ever active and talented hands. She will be in all our hearts forever. She was predeceased by her parents Rose and Ed Keim and her brothers Bob Keim and Dan Keim. Kathy leaves to mourn: her loving husband Bob Stull; daughters Robbie (Graham) Peterson and Cindy (Ken) Balderson; son Jeff (Greg); four grandchildren: Whittney (Ryan) Hansen, Lindy Peterson, Darcie Balderson and Dan Balderson; her brothers William (Ella) Keim and Ken (Elizabeth) Keim; sisters Betty (Bob) Rowan and Linda (Bruce) Hollingshead; her sisters in law Della Keim and Gaye Ogg; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. Written with love by sister in law Della Keim
