Obituary of Christa Anne Thompson

Christa attended high school in Spirit River and went from there to the Royal Alexandra Hospital from which she graduated in Nursing in 1960. Her move to Grande Prairie netted a job and a husband so 1963 saw her in Stettler working in the old Stettler Hospital. Another move to Edmonton saw her working at the Misericordia Hospital for a year or so and then the happy couple returned to Stettler for the duration. Here she worked in the new Hospital for upwards of 30 years. Chris was active in many ventures; one of which was curling with a multitude of friends. She also had some success in this by winning the northern playoff two times. She also enjoyed cooking, golfing, fishing, camping, gardening and in particular her flowers. When a farm was added to the mixture, cattle became a very extreme interest and through that we were allowed to travel to many countries and meet many cultures; a time of great joy for us both. When the cattle had expended all our energy we had time for the Arizona experience for 18 years; and the time for many other trips and cruises with other dear friends. Somewhere during this period we found time to purchase our little castle to call our winter home. “She loved it.” She said after her bad news that she wouldn’t have traded her life for anyone’s but she would have liked a little longer. Christa is survived by her loving husband Keith of 49 years; sisters Margot Delfs of Calgary, Gudrun Kuefler of Ottawa; brother Gerhart (Joyce) Delfs of Rocky Mountain House; sister in law Paulette Delfs of Grande Prairie; brother in law Michael (Jan) Thompson of Wetaskiwin; as well as many cousins and many fine nieces, nephews and friends and a very special friend Sheena Rumberger. Chris was predeceased by her parents Hans and Hermine; brother Victor and sister Ursula. Memorial donations may be made to SHSF - Stettler Health Services Foundation or a charity of the donor’s choice.
