Alex Chizmadia was born on November 8, 1921 in Velka Bara, Hungary. When he was a boy of 8, the family immigrated to Canada, ending up in the Genesee area where Alex farmed until he retired in 1998. In 1953 Alex married Doreen Hoffman, together they had five children: Linda (Steven) Doey of Spruce Grove, Debbie who died in infancy, Allen (Karen) Chizmadia of Bashaw, Larry (Cheryl) Chizmadia of Bashaw and Carol Chizmadia of Spruce Grove. Alex is also survived by 3 grandsons, 4 granddaughters and 6 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his daughter Debbie, sisters Irene and Veronica and brothers Ernest and Andy.
Alex passed away on Friday, March 9, 2012 at the age of 90 years in the Pine Ridge Nursing Home in Stettler, Alberta.
A funeral service for Alex Chizmadia will be held on Saturday, March 17, 2012 at 1:00 P.M. in the Heartland Chapel of Stettler Funeral Home, 4707-70th Street, Stettler, Alberta, 1-877-844-3422, who are entrusted with the care and funeral arrangements.
