Obituary of Evelyn Nelson

On February 28, 2012, Evelyn Nelson of Athabasca (previously of Alix) passed away at the age of 89 years. Born on October 6, 1922 in Consort, Alberta; Evelyn was an avid gardener – flowers and vegetables, she loved to watch them grow and bloom. Curling gave her a lot of enjoyment to play and in her later years to watch. She will be lovingly remembered by her children Gordon (Darlene) of Alix, Judy (Maurice) of Mirror, Joan of Athabasca, Myles of Alix and daughter in-law Rose of Calgary; 15 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren, she also leaves behind 1 sister, Amy Gauld; 3 sisters in law, Ada Fox, Eileen Fox and Mildred Offet; numerous nieces and nephews. Evelyn was predeceased by her husband Don; son Allan; 2 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. The family will be hosting a tea in remembrance of Evelyn’s joy of visiting at the Alix Community Hall on Saturday, March 10, 2012 between 1-4 pm. In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation in Evelyn’s memory may be made directly to a charity of your choice.
