Obituary of Katherine Bognar

Katherine Bognar (nee Schaedel) was born in Harta, Hungary on February 12, 1925; she was the oldest of four children. In 1952 she immigrated to Canada with two small children; after a long voyage they boarded a train and headed west. They finally reached their destination near Coledale, Alberta. Katherine worked on a sugar beet farm for two years to work off her passage to Canada. At a Hungarian Club in Lethbridge, Alberta she met Frank Bognar. To this union a daughter was born. In the 1960’s they moved to Castor and stayed until their passing. Katherine is predeceased by her parents Balthazar and Maria Schaedel, by her husband Frank Bognar, her son Henry Marko, her sister Theresa Gombai, her brother Balthazar (Walter) Schaedel Jr., her great granddaughter Sarah Tidman and grandson in law Pat Tidman. She is survived by her two daughters Katherine (Hans) Cluver and Anna Maria Bognar; 4 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and 13 great great grandchildren; her sister Maria Katranitz in Germany; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends in Canada and Europe.
