Obituary of Lily Lydia Spady
Please share a memory of Lily to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Lily Lydia Spady passed away at Our Lady of the Rosary Hospital, Castor, Alberta on January 3, 2018 at the age of 92 years.
Lily was born June 11, 1925 in the Castor area to Jacob and Lydia Engel. She was one of 13 children. She attended Rosetta School and worked in Castor at the local grocery store. In 1954, she married Victor Spady. Together they farmed on the Spady farm north of Castor. They raised four children, Keith, Kathy, Barry and Gayleen. Victor passed away December 27, 1995. Even after his passing Lily remained on the farm until 2000. At this point she relocated into Castor living on her own until 2010, when she moved into the Paintearth Lodge. This quickly developed into her new home, establishing many new relationships with staff and residents thus resulting in a wonderful and busy social life.
As a daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and aunt, Lily loved her family dearly. Her thoughtfulness, attentiveness and kindness were evident daily. She always ensured everyone was plump full and taken care of. She loved seeing her ten grandchildren and five great grandchildren grow up. She especially enjoyed passing on her knowledge of baking and gardening.
