We are sad to report that Peggy Isabella (Halverson) Oram passed away at Our Lady of the Rosary Hospital in Castor, AB on August 29, 2016. Peggy was born on the home farm on Dec 29, 1921. She is survived by her son James (Andrea), Albert (Susan), Marda (Oram) Compton, daughter-in-law Kathy (Janke) Oram, Barry; sisters-in law Mrs. Violet Turre of Castor, Mrs Doreen (Oram) Rankine of New Brunswick, Mrs. Myrna Smith of New Brunswick and numerous nieces and nephews. She also had 11 grand children, 23 great grand children and 3 great-great grandchildren. Peggy was predeceased by her parents Jessie Greig (Stewart) Halverson and Olaf Halverson, her brother Keith in WW2, her sister Janet, her nephew Elwood Johnson, her husband Franklin John Oram, her son Brett Evans Oram, her sister Nan Halverson, son-in- law Rick Compton, granddaughter Rhondi Joy (Oram) Staples and her great granddaughter Alexei Schnell. Peggy joined the RCAF Canadian Women's Auxiliary Air Force commonly called WD on Oct 15 1942. She married Frank on 20 September 1944 in Dauphin, Manitoba. She was discharged in Winnipeg on Jan 18, 1945. She then returned to the family farm and commenced raising her family. They moved to the Maritimes for18 months then returned to the Lauderdale area and farmed till 1957. They then moved to Fleet and then onto Castor where she remained. Peggy toured Europe, Scandinavia, Australia, Hawaii, Alaska and each province and territory of Canada except for Nunavut. She worked in various areas of Alberta. Her favourite was at the Saskatchewan River Crossing. Family request that donations in lieu of flowers be made to Our Lady of the Rosary Hospital Foundation, Box 329, Castor, AB T0C 0X0.
