Obituary of Werner "Vern" Thomas Steinwand

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden but peaceful passing of Werner “Vern” Thomas Steinwand in the Hay River Hospital on September 1, 2014, at the age of 61. Vern is survived by his children, Tommy Lafferty, Pamela Lafferty and their mother Cecelia Beaulieu and Kellie Steinwand and her mother Joyce Gauthier; his grandchildren Cameron Lafferty and Dakota Steinwand; his mother Lilli Steinwand; his brothers Garry, Audi, Kurt (Debbie), Ewald (Rhonda), Norbert (Darcy), Oswald (Debbie); his sister Maggie Hiebert (Barry); aunts Elsie Steinwand and Gail Wozney, uncles Arny Steinwand, Alex Steinwand, Norbert (Audrey) Steinwand; numerous nephews, nieces, cousins and many friends. Vern was predeceased by his father Fred Steinwand, nieces Lucinda Steinwand, Valeene Steinwand, Deanna Hiebert and twin nephews Kyle and Chad Steinwand. Vern was born in Castor, Alberta where he attended school and helped out on the family farm. He left home at an early age and in his travels ended up settling in Hay River, NT where he lived for over 40 years until his passing. Memorial donations may be made to the H. H. Williams Memorial Hospital or Buffalo Air both of Hay River, Northwest Territories. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so on Friday evening, September 5, 2014 at Parkview Funeral Chapels from 7:00 – 9:00 PM The interment service will take place in the Zion Evangelical Cemetery, north of Castor at 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 6, 2014 Funeral Service Saturday, September 6, 2014 at 2:00 P.M.
